Dipsol Chemicals Co., Ltd has two European Patent Nos. 1484432B and EP1318214B which relate to
hexavalent chromium free corrosion resistant films. Although oppositions were filed to these patents,
respectively, the Appeal Board made a final decision that the patents should be maintained, and the
oppositions were set aside (dismissed) at the oral hearing held at the final stage of the appeal
procedure in January 2018.
European Patent No. 1484432B is related to a treating solution for forming black hexavalent
chromium-free chemical coating on zinc or zinc alloy plated substrate, and a method for forming a
black hexavalent chromium-free chemical coating on zinc or zinc alloy plated substrate.
European Patent No. 1318214B is related to zinc or zinc alloy plating layers comprising a hexavalent
chromium free, corrosion resistant, and trivalent chromate conversion film.
